CADA
Welcome back: a fall message from Dean Rebecca Rugg
Hello CADA community,
Welcome to our new faculty and students! Welcome back, everybody else! Welcome to what is sure to be a semester like no other!
While we are not able to be together in person as much as we would like, and we are not kicking off the semester in all the ways we love to do, our community is still thriving, and we are still able to be here for each other, and to teach, learn, and celebrate the creative disciplines represented in our college.
As this semester takes off, we will create new rituals, and new ways of being together, and I look forward to hearing all the ways it’s going well. To be sure, there will be hiccups and things that do not go as well. We should not be surprised when things require adjustment and flexibility, as this is our norm these days. It can be exhausting and some days the chaos level can just feel overwhelming. Please be gentle and forgiving of yourselves and others as we embark on this unique journey together. Let’s continue to be open and welcoming to all — these are attitudes that CADA is known for, and let’s all aim to increase them at every opportunity.
If you need information about how we are responding to the pandemic, the UIC COVID-19 website is the best resource during this dynamic situation.
As we begin this new semester, we remain committed to creating an open and inclusive culture in CADA and its schools; and to activating CADA’s role as an advocate for equity and anti-racism in our professional fields. We encourage all to learn more about our diversity, equity, and inclusion actions as we enter this new semester.
Please stay safe, wear your face masks, wash your hands, and enjoy yourselves!
