Kaucyila Brooke (born 1952) produces photographs, critical texts, video art, and photo/text narratives for installation and publication. Two of her projects include Vitrinen in Arbeit (2002 05), color photographs cataloguing the vitrines of the Natural History Museum in Vienna, and Kathy Acker s Clothes (1998 2004), systematically descriptive color photographs of the clothing of the deceased New York avant-garde novelist.

Brooke, based in Los Angeles and Vienna, received an MFA in photography from the University of Arizona, Tuscon. She has had solo exhibitions at Michael Dawson Gallery, Los Angeles; Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen; and plattform, Berlin. Since 1992 she has been a professor at California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles, where she previously directed the Program in Photography and Media. </
