Chicago performance artist Kaja Overstreet combines movement, visual imagery, and sound in her solo and ensemble works. For Overstreet, a primary function of the performer is as object within the mis-en-scene. The performer’s character and actions are often developed by other media including: delayed video images, film, puppets, and slide projections. She has criss-crossed between media and disciplines for several years; her interestes lying in non-traditional sites and public places. She is currently working on a solo series “CHITS” to be performed at the Baliwick Theater and various squat locations in Chicago.
She earned a BFA and an MA in performance from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
