John Neff s (born 1975) artwork uses highly formalized, self-reflexive structures to create psychological, social, and historical narratives. His sculptures, photographs, and collages are intellectually complex without forfeiting visual beauty. Neff s second solo show at Western Exhibitions, Chicago, Pornographic Pantograph With Allusion To Juan Cotan (In Progress, Patent Pending), opened in 2006. The exhibition included blueprints, maquettes, presentation models, and patent application materials related to the Pornographic Pantograph, a sculpto-graphic device that Neff had been developing since 2001.

Neff s exhibitions include Travels Between the First and Third Dimensions at Western Exhibitions, Chicago, and Accidental Sublime at Bower, San Antonio. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, Frieze, Chicago Tribune, and Philadelphia Inquirer and on artnet.com. Neff received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MFA from University of Illinois, Chicago. He currently lives and works in central Iowa.
