Gaylen Gerber (born 1955) is an artist whose conceptual installations and paintings focus on the viewer’s perceptions and expectations of art and temporality. Most recently, Gerber’s works are made in cooperation with other artists: Gerber creates contexts or altered environments in which the other artists’ autonomous work is located.

His projects have been exhibited at Mus e d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg; FRAC-Bourgogne, Dijon, France; Neues Museum Weserburg Bremen, Germany; Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria; Kunsthalle Bern, Switzerland; Art Institute of Chicago; Charlottenborg Exhibition Hall, Copenhagen; Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; Renaissance Society, University of Chicago; Lisson Gallery, London; Galerie n chst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzw lder, Vienna; Galerie Susanna Kulli, Zurich; Daniel Hug Gallery, Los Angeles; and Donald Young Gallery, Chicago. Gerber earned a BS from State University New York and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he is currently a professor of painting and drawing.
