American television director, producer, and new media artist Brian Springer (born 1959) spent a year searching for footage grabbing back channel news feeds not intended for public consumption. The result of his research was Spin. This 1995 feature length documentary gives an insight into the perception of how television is used to try to control and distort the American public’s view of reality. His work unravels the tightly spun fabric of television, a system that silences public debates and furthers the intolerance of anyone outside the pack of journalists, politicians, spin doctors, and televangelists who manufacture the news.
