Particularly involved with the mapping of contemporary capitalism, activist and translator Brian Holmes has long investigated the intersections of artistic and political practice. Since the Carnival Against Capital in London in 1999, he has taken part in demonstrations against corporate globalization around the world, hosted seminars with 16 Beaver Group in New York, and written extensively on geopolitics.
Holmes was the English editor of publications for Documenta X (1997), was a member of the graphic arts group Ne Pas Plier from 1999 to 2001, and has worked with the French conceptual art group Bureau d tudes. Holmes is a frequent contributor to the international mailing list Nettime, the art magazines Springerin, Austria; and Brumaria, Spain; and the interdisciplinary journal Multitudes, France.
