In partnership with MAKE + Lit & Luz Festival,  join artist Alejandro Almanza Pereda for a lecture on his practice.

Owing to the very distinct environments of living in Mexico and the United States, Almanza Pereda’s works across sculpture, installation, and photography are invested in the idea of perceived danger and risk. He utilizes domestic objects to create still lifes that respond to everyday life’s fragility, weight, and gravity. 

ABOUT

Alejandro Almanza Pereda (B. 1977, Ciudad de México) has had solo shows at the San Francisco Art Institute; Museo El Eco, Mexico City; Art in General New York; the Stanley Rubin Center, El Paso, TX; and the College of Wooster Art Museum, Ohio. His work has been exhibited at the Istanbul Biennial, ASU Museum; Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City; Dublin Contemporary 2011, 6a Bienal de Curitiba Brazil, El Museo del Barrio, and the Queens Museum. 

Almanza Pereda has attended the Skowhegan and Bemis Art Residencies program as well as a grant recipient of the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship , CIFO Grant Program, the Harpo Foundation, Sistema Nacional de Creadores in México, Harker Award for Interdisciplinary Studies at SFAI. He has a Master’s in Arts from Hunter College, New York, and lives between Guadalajara and Mexico City.
