Please join us to learn about and contribute to an upcoming integrated design workshop (IDW) focused on envisioning climate-resilient futures for UIC Gallery 400 and the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum.

The event will begin with a brief presentation outlining the project’s scope, research, and design approach, followed by a panel discussion with Gabriel Wilcox, Yugene Cha, and Sachin Anand and an open forum for questions, feedback, and community input.

Moderated by Director of UIC School of Art and Art History, Dr. Ömür Harmansah and UIC Museum and Exhibition Studies MA Student, Calen Geiser-Cseh.

ABOUT

Gabriel Wilcox works across studio projects to find synergies unique to each place as the Director of Sustainable Design at Krueck Sexton Partners. With diverse background experience in construction, civil engineering, and architecture, he brings an integrated design approach to finding solutions for the most pressing issues. Sharing knowledge and giving back to the profession are equally important to Gabriel. His thought leadership has contributed to local and national conferences, focusing on material health, building certification systems, decarbonization, and the role of policy in architecture.

Yugene Cha is a Partner at the architecture firm of Krueck Sexton Partners (KSP). He joined KSP in 2003 and became one of five new Partners in 2020 to lead the practice forward. He stands at the forefront of redefining the live/work-place paradigm, with a practice ranging from large-scale commercial developments to complex cultural projects including the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership1100 First Street office building in Washington, DC; Grogan | Dove Federal Building in Miramar, Florida; The Tower at North FranklinUnited Airlines Terminal at LAXThe Franklin RepositioningCME Center Ground Plane Repositioning; and most recently the International Square Food Market in downtown Washington D.C.

Sachin Anand brings over 15 years of diversified design, commissioning, and management experience to the field of engineering, uniting artistry and analytics into a unique approach based upon the client’s needs. He runs his project team with uncompromising quality control at each design phase and strives to maintain the client’s goals with creative design solutions. In addition to his responsibilities at dbHMS, Sachin has been an Adjunct Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture since 2008. He is a sought after speaker on topics of sustainability such as, ASHRAE 90.1, Energy Conservation Codes, Energy Modeling, LEED®, and Integrated Design, and has presented these topics to a multitude of audiences. Several of his award-winning projects have been featured in local and national publications. Sachin is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois and a LEED® Accredited Professional.
