John McNamara (born 1950) focuses on conceptions of transcendence, moments in collective popular culture, and sharable life realities. He considers his paintings to be open investigative narratives. He has held solo exhibitions at Massachusetts College of Art, Boston; Bess Cutler Gallery, New York; Stavaridis Gallery, Boston; Mary Wright Gallery, Dallas; Hundred Souls Gallery, Plymouth; and participated in group shows at Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, among others. McNamara received a BA and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston.
