STRATEGIC PLAN: GOAL 2

STRATEGIC GOAL 2

Advance world-class research and creative practice
and raise CADA’s visibility

CADA is proud to have an exceptional group of accomplished faculty who conduct transformative research and creative work, with deep local connections and international reach, contributing to advancing the fields they represent, often with student co-creation. This work deserves significant promotion, with the twin aims to expand disciplinary discourses and practices and to further CADA’s role as a leader in Chicago, national, and international arts and culture.

We also recognize opportunities to learn from and with
our colleagues across the college, to enrich our creative and scholarly perspectives and increase entry points
to access our work. CADA will encourage and support interdisciplinary research and collaboration and the development of new curricular offerings.

In these ways, we will expand our visibility throughout the university and beyond, and reinforce a reputation on which to build philanthropic support for the college.

To advance our world-class research and raise our visibility, we will:

1. Enhance support of faculty and student accomplishments and research by:

Advocating for increased internal and external funding; and

investing in grant application and management support.

2. Strengthen interdisciplinary research collaboration and other forms of partnerships by:

Advocating for funding streams that incentivize such work; and

building strategic collaborations with other educational and cultural institutions locally, nationally, and internationally.

3. Evaluate and develop new offerings to expand our reach, supported by a well-built administrative structure. Potential offerings may include:

Amplification of CADA’s cinema offerings;

general education courses;

new online, multilingual, and/or interdisciplinary academic programs; and

expansion of certificate offerings.

4. Broadcast and showcase the excellent work and programs created by our faculty, students, and staff through:

Enhanced collaborative marketing, communications,
events, and strategic use of space; and

participation in university-wide opportunities to increase
our exposure and have a voice in key forums.
