ABOUT

Lauren Leving (she/her) is an independent curator and writer based in Chicago, IL. Her work explores how creative practice can expand institutionally-rooted understandings of access. Building on an ongoing body of research that examines Social Emotional Learning within museums, Lauren develops projects that offer multiple entry points and support the breadth of ways that widespread communities engage with contemporary art. Using access as a framework, Lauren’s curatorial practice focuses on the intersections of disability justice and visual art; complex relationships between material histories, resource extraction, and toxicity; and how artists assume the role of loophole creator in service of institutional change.
