Senior Curator of the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, Lynn Gumpert has contributed to many publications and exhibition catalogues. Most recently, Gumpert presented Golub, a retrospective spanning nearly forty years of the artist s career. ”Golub was first recognized thirty years ago in Chicago where he played a prominent role in the figurative expressionist movement. Golub s work depicts the ravages of power on society and, more recently, traces of the influence of power through the metaphor of the mercenary. His work has earned international recognition for its concern with the human condition, expressed through a powerful form and iconographic vocabulary.
