Vincent Calabro’s lecture, Play/Pause, will present the work of Office of Things, highlighting projects that insert artful gestures into everyday life by carving out space for pause and respite, playfully engaging a passersby, or threading bits of wonder into unexpected places.
Vincent Calabro is a co-founder and principal of Office of Things. Prior, he worked for six years at Studio Gang where he served in a key role on many of the studio’s large-scale projects, including significant contributions to the design and construction administration of the University of Chicago Campus North Residential Commons and design for the California College of the Arts Unified Campus. Vincent currently teaches at UIC. Before joining UIC, Vincent taught at Illinois Institute of Technology and North Carolina State University. Vincent earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, and his Master of Architecture from Yale University. Along the way, he spent time in Cleveland, New York, Laguna Beach, Copenhagen, Philadelphia, Rome, San Francisco, and Durham before settling in Chicago. Vincent has continued research into the intersection of technology, nature, and design and their impact on society and culture.
