Voices: Sylvia Chivaratanond and Hamza Walker

Sylvia Chivaratanond worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago from 1999 until 2003, where she currently serves as a guest curator. She is helping produce the exhibition Skin Tight: The Sensibility of Flesh, which is to open in 2004. Chivaratanond has also curated several 12 x 12 exhibitions for the MCA. She served as Assistant Director for the 2003 Venice Biennale. She was also a commissioning curator for the 2004 ARCO International Contemporary Art Fair in Madrid and a selection curator in 2003 2004 for the Altoids Collection.
Since 1994, Hamza Walker has been a curator and the Director of Education at The Renaissance Society, a non-collecting contemporary art gallery, at the University of Chicago. His most recently curated exhibitions include Ulrike Ottinger: A Journey to New Blank Spots on the Map of Europe, Watery Domestic, Julie Moos: Monsanto Series, and Detourism. Walker also organizes the publications, artist talks, and literature and music presentations for the Society. Walker has also written articles and reviews for such publications as Trans, New Art Examiner, Parkett, and Artforum. He was a selecting curator and writer for the Phaidon publications Vitamin P and Cream 3.
