Voices: Francesco Bonami
Gallery 400 Lecture Room
400 South Peoria Street
Francesco Bonami’s most recent projects include his curatorial duties at Manifesta 3, Ljubljana, and his lead curatorial role in three exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago: Examining Pictures, Unfinished History, and Age of Influence: Reflections in the Mirror of American Culture. Through these exhibtions, Bonami has exposed the city to a wide range of artists examining global issues. His exhibitions focus on the global and the here and now, questioning “What is this world, this period, this precise moment in which we are living?”
Bonami is currently the Manilow Senior Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, as well as a contributing writer for various periodicals, museum and artists catalogues, and international publications, including his seven years as editor of
Flash Art International. He studied in the Architectural Studies Program at the University of Florence; the School of Architecture Andrea Palladion, Vicenza; and received an MFA in stage design and contemporary art from the Academy of Fine Arts, Florence.
