Erkki Huhtamo works as writer, researcher, lecturer, and curator in the field of audio-visual media culture. He is a pioneer in the burgeoning field of media archaeology, a project for excavating forgotten, neglected or suppressed media-cultural phenomena in order to develop a new history of media.
Huhtamo teaches in the Design and Media Arts Department at University of California, Los Angeles. He has been a member of many media festival juries and organization committees worldwide, including ISEA International 2004, ICC Biennale, Tokyo; the Interactive Media Festival, Los Angeles; and the online exhibition Portraits in Cyberspace, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab.
