Architecture
TryArch Architecture Workshop
TryArch 2017
What is it?
TryArch is an intensive one-day workshop held each fall where you can experience an architecture studio, learn about drawing and fabrication, and build content for a portfolio—just in time for graduate school applications. Participants will work through a series of drawing and composition exercises that will be physically tested as a 3-dimensional object. We will explore formal, spatial and material organizations in the hopes of discovering new avenues of architectural inquiry. This experimental workshop challenges preconceived notions of architectural form and offers a fresh perspective on “how to architecture” with faculty members Antonio Torres and Ania Jaworska.
Who can attend?
Anyone! No previous experience is required. The workshop is intended for any adult or current undergraduate student who wants to learn more about what architecture is all about, get to know the School of Architecture at UIC, or refine a portfolio for graduate school applications. Anyone looking for a more in depth experience should also consider YArch, the School’s month-long intensive design summer workshop. High school-aged students interested in attending a workshop should consider HiArch, a week-long summer program for high school students.
How do I sign up?
Register online by Friday, October 27 and submit the $200 workshop fee. The fee includes all supplies necessary for the workshop as well as lunch. The program fee is nonrefundable in the case of student withdrawal. Spots are limited and available on a first-paid, first-served basis. Payment is required to reserve a spot.
