Micheal Cunningham: Holding (IT) Together
Gallery 400
400 S. Peoria St.
The performance of Holding(IT)Together, a collective tuning experiment. Utilizing a series of sculptural instruments and structured through a score by Fluxus composer Philip Corner, the MFA candidate artist Michael Cunningham invites the public to join him in an attempt to break through the difficulties in communication via the practice of tuning together. Chordophones made from reclaimed architecture, pvc aerophones, an idiophone methodically destroyed in the process of its playing, a lithophone manipulated and reformed, and voices are detuned and re-tuned to find each other again.
