Paul Andersen and Paul Preissner to curate American Pavilion at 2020 Venice Biennale
Clinical Associate Professor Paul Andersen and Associate Professor Paul Preissner have been selected to curate the US Pavilion Exhibition at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale. UIC is commissioner of the exhibition.
Andersen and Preissner’s project, titled American Framing, demonstrates the conditions and consequences of American wood-framed construction as a response to the biennale’s theme, “How Will We Live Together?” The exhibition will complete the 1930s American Palladian–style pavilion with a work of ubiquitous domestic architecture.
Andersen and Preissner were selected in an open competition run by the US State Department. This edition of the biennale, which is directed by Hashim Sarkis, opens May 23, 2020. Additional information on the project and associated events will be available in the coming months.
