Adrian Smith ‘69BARCH, internationally renowned architect was honored at the 2016 Legacies and Leaders event that took place at the UIC Forum on April 7. The evening celebrated dedicated alumni of the University of Illinois at Chicago for their philanthropic support. Smith was selected as this year’s recipient for the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts for his continue student support through his named scholarship award that he established in 1987. The annual scholarship award is given to a fourth year student who is acknowledged as a design leader by their instructor and the dean of the college. The most recent scholarship recipient, Juan Andres Suarez, attended the ceremony. Smith has designed many landmark buildings around the world, including the two world’s tallest structures: Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
