George Orwell published his allegorical novella Animal Farm in 1945, using the story of farm animals who overthrow their human farmer, Mr. Jones, to satirize the Russian Revolution and the rise of Stalinism. What begins as a rebellion built on equality and freedom gradually becomes a new tyranny as the pigs seize control and rewrite the rules to serve themselves.

Darkly funny and relevant, Animal Farm explores political corruption, the abuse of power, and the manipulation of truth. In Tatty Hennessy’s adaptation, Orwell’s classic takes on renewed urgency, reminding us how easily power can be abused—and how quickly democracy can erode when those in charge are no longer held accountable.
