When violence erupts in a peaceful Chicago neighborhood — the community searches for answers. Through belly laughs and blunt smoke, summertime, an interlude examines the community’s complicated relationship with love, legacy, loyalty, and loss.

Written by UIC alum and screenwriter Aniello Fontano (BA ’14), this play is his love song to the city and the neighborhood where he grew up—our UIC neighborhood. This will be the first play we present written by an alum, set in a fictional neighborhood inspired by University Village.
