Transferring to the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts.

Admission and placement into the College is highly competitive, and admission is determined by the availability of space in the level of program appropriate for the transfer student. Applications are evaluated and selected based on a holistic review of a student’s Common Application, transcripts, GPA, recommendation letters, and personal statement. All admission decisions are final due to the demand for space in all programs. Students should refer to the “Program Specific Requirements” tab for each program.

As a first step, we recommend that you visit Transferology for information on how courses you've already taken will transfer to UIC.

Architecture, Art, and Design programs admit students fall term only.

Art History, Theatre, and Music are the only programs that admit students fall and spring term.

No more than 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of credit may be accepted as transfer work from a community or junior college. Transfer students from community or junior colleges should consult with the major department or school to discuss transfer credits. All final acceptance of transfer credit will be determined by the college upon review of recommendations by the school or department. Due to the sequencing of classes in many of our programs, transfer students typically continue their education for an additional four years.

Please review our transfer guides to determine how many of your courses will transfer to UIC.
